The British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation (BiKBBI) take a new tack with a focus on growing their independent retailer network as part of a new strategy to widen installation support for the entire industry.
Since November (2019), the organisation has welcomed 26 new retailers, including Fired Earth and Ripples (Birmingham), bringing its total to 111 independents, representing 182 showrooms.
BiKBBI CEO Damian Walters said: “When we launched the organisation in 2006, we focused on the large national retailers for a number of reasons. Call it ‘low-hanging-fruit’ if you wish, we saw the opportunity to onboard thousands of installers at pace, enabling us to invest in the institute and its infrastructure. The unintentional cost of that strategy was that sadly the independent sector saw BiKBBI as something for the nationals and not for them.” Damian went onto say: “The development of installation standards, education within the sector and compliance is relevant to the entire industry and the benefits of association with us reach well into the independent sector.”
Exhibiting at KBB Birmingham in March, BiKBBI will be hosting a series of events on their stand, a red London double decker bus (Y110), dedicating Wednesday (4th) as ‘Independents Day’.
Director of Retail Strategy, Justin Adgar (pictured) said: “We now have a compelling proposition for the independent retailer in the form of our new Protected initiative. Retailers will have access to a robust digital platform that connects their customers with professional installers, protecting all parties in a number of innovative ways.”
Justin went on to say: “Whether you’re looking to connect your customers with new installers, or if you are already working with trusted installers, the Protected platform can support independent retailers to focus on sales, whilst providing their customers with an unrivalled installation service delivered by professional installers nationally.”
