BiKBBI CEO Damian Walters received The coveted Special Achievemnt Award at the KBBReview Awards ceremony in Birmingham last month.

The award, presented by comedian Jimmy Carr at the Birmingham Metropole, was awarded for Damian’s endeavours at The Institute over the last decade, as well as his charitable work.

Damian has raised over a quarter of a million pounds over the last 10 years for a number of local, national and industry charities, including his latest challenge, a summit attempt of Mount Everest for the industry charity, The Furniture Makers Company.

Speaking from Everest this week, Damian commented on the accolade by saying: “I’m incredibly grateful for the award. Recognition for the hard work input over the last year at The Institute is a real honour, but I must say that the award really should have been a team one. Without their dedication, hard work and support, the organisation would be nothing”.

Damian went on to say: “The charity work is just a opportunity to give a little something back to the community and is something everyone should consider doing. Whilst climbing big hills may not be for everyone, the opportunities to support good causes are endless. I get a great deal of satisfaction from supporting worthy causes and from pushing myself personally to the extremes”.
