Why I did it…

By Billy Quinn, Managing Director, Central Compliance UK & Non-Exec Chair of The Furniture Ombudsman:

On a few occassions I have been asked why I presented at KBB Birmingham and so highly recommended the British Institute of Kitchen, Bedroom & Bathroom Installation… so here goes!

A key question that needs to be addressed is, can the industry do more to increase the profile of KBB installation businesses, to such an extent, that there is a real appetite to pursue a career as an installer / installation business proprietor or installation manager?

Can we then, with active numbers viewing a career path within KBB Installations as desirable, provide the training platforms to facilitate this?

Logically the next question we need to answer is, which organisations are best placed to help to mobilise lots of very good intent from the industry?

I believe a well supported British Institute is part of the solution, however large and small companies alike must take an active role in partnership with BiKBBI to implement strategies to fill the increasing installer shortage currently restricting the KBB industry.

That in a nutshell is why I presented at the show and am an active advocate of institutes and trade organisations. They provide a vital part of the solution, especially if they enable the industry they represent, to work collaboratively to face in to its biggest challenges together.
